Snapshot of the ESCMID treatment guidelines for MDR gram-negative bacterial infections

This summary gives a brief introduction to the ESCMID guidelines and their development processes. In addition, opportunities, challenges, and main differences between treatment guidelines and guidance are illustrated. The summary is based on two ECCMID 2022 sessions that focused on ESCMID & IDSA treatment guidelines for MDR Gram-negative bacterial infection.
 

European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ESCMID)

ESCMID is a non-profit organization whose mission is to improve the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of infection-related diseases by promoting and supporting research, education, training, and good medical practice.

ESCMID supports development and maintenance of the Clinical Practice Guidelines and other guidance documents that are used for the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of infectious diseases.
